They never dreamed of owning a bed and breakfast, but they are well-prepared by their background. During the summers off school from ages 15 to 22, they learned carpentry and are still active in the trade. They take on small projects during the B&B busy season, and large projects and house builds during the slow season. After graduation, they both got jobs as foremen/installers for a solar company installing large scale commercial solar parks, travelling around the country to California, Hawaii, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Vermont.
They returned to Ithaca early 2012 and worked with their mother to restore a 200 yr old property which became The Dewitt Park Inn. This paved the way for purchasing City Lights Inn on September 1st 2013. While they never thought they’d own a B&B, working and learning with Dewitt Park Inn was an intriguing opportunity, and the property on which City Lights sits provides an unlimited potential opportunity and couldn’t be turned down. Their ultimate goal is to develop small, carbon-neutral, environmentally-friendly houses on the property.
Collin and Aaron recently discovered a passion for coaching young athletes. Both coach the JV lacrosse team at Ithaca High School. They enjoy giving back to the community and local youth.
They have a dog named Dio that lives with them. He stays out of the guest rooms but does sit off to the side during breakfast.
